«Molise’s World is made of all those things / that fill our lives with the finest air. / People arrive and eat, they rest and think: / “These mornings are a nectar!” And the Square is always watching who gets married there / because it wants to see if you make do.
Molise’s Days are slowly burned away / by the sun that plays in stubble fields. / Lazily in the shade passes the day / and sleep is like the sleep of fledgling birds. / You keep your eyes half-open and half-closed, / because you want to see what you can do.
Molise’s Time goes with the river’s flow / that, yellowish, descends toward the ocean. / It gets lost in the valleys among stones: / it no longer carries jugs, it has no cushion / for the head. Desire to work is a small hole, / because you want to know what we must do.»
Giose Rimanelli, Moliseide
«U Múnne du Molise sònn’i cóse / che fànn’a víte chiéne d’arie fíne. / A ggènt’èrríve e màgne, ze rèpóse / pènzànne: ” Tènn’u dóce sti mètíne!” / A Chiàzze guarde sèmbe chi ze spóse / pècché te vo’ vèdé se può chèmpà.
I Juórne du Molise so’ brèsciàte / du sóle che pèzzéje ni rèstúcce. / Du frísche pàsse chiàne nè jèrnàte: / u suónne è cóm’qquílle di cèllúcce. / Tie’ l’uócchie miézz’èpiérte e miézze chiúse / pècché tu vuó vèdé che ze po’ fà.
U Tiémpe du Molise va cu hiúme / ch’èscégne ‘ngiàllèníte fin’u màre. / Z’èspèrde ‘n miézz’i préte di vèllúne: / nèn pòrte cchiù quèttóre, nèn te’ spàre.

Molise's World
